In conjunction with the official launch of the Aspen Policy Academy on October 22nd, the Policy Academy will be hosting Action and Impact, a multi-city event series on pressing policy topics. DC: Empowering Policy Changemakers
NYC: Building Policy Capacity for Public Good
The first event in the Action and Impact series will take place in Washington, DC on October 22nd from 4-7:30pm at the Aspen Institute DC headquarters (2300 N St. NW). Join the Aspen Policy Academy’s inaugural event, featuring a panel on empowering policy changemakers with expert speakers including:
- Jemina Bernard, president of Teach For America
- Michael Chertoff, former US Secretary of Homeland Security.
- Tony Johnson, president and CEO of Truman National Security Project
The event will also feature policy proposal presentations from alumni, networking opportunities, and culminate with a celebratory reception. Come learn how you can impact policy in your community. You can view the event schedule here.

The second Action and Impact event takes place in New York City on October 24th from 5-8pm at Housing Works Bookstore (126 Crosby St.). This event will focus on how public interest organizations can build their policy capacity.
Join the Policy Academy for an expert panel with speakers including:
- DeNora Getachew, CEO of DoSomething
- Reshma Saujani, founder of Girls Who Code
- Nabiha Syed, executive director of Mozilla
- Michael Waldman, president and CEO of the Brennan Center for Justice
- Nicole Young, senior producer of 60 Minutes (Moderating)

SF: Policy at the Speed of Tech
The third event in the Action and Impact series: Policy at the Speed of Tech will take place at the iconic Manny’s civic gathering space in San Francisco (3092 16th St.) from 4-7:30pm on Thursday, November 14th.
The event will feature a panel discussion with major influencers in the policy and tech space, including:
- Tani Cantil-Sakauye, president of the Public Policy Institute of California

LA: Shaping the Future of Climate and Science Policy
The fourth Action and Impact event will take place in Los Angeles on December 12th from 4-7pm at Emerson College LA (5960 Sunset Blvd).
This event will look ahead to the future of climate policy, helping individuals and nonprofit organizations understand how they can drive advancements in climate policy. It will include an expert panel with Marta Segura, Chief Heat Officer for the City of Los Angeles.
