Announcing the Aspen Climate Cohort

  • Article Published January 12, 2022

The Aspen Institute’s Tech Policy Hub and Energy and Environment Program are thrilled to announce the launch of a joint climate cohort of the Hub Fellowship program. The Aspen Climate Cohort brings together the expertise and network of the Energy and Environment Program with the curriculum and training ability of the Tech Policy Hub to train climate engineers, scientists, technologists, and business experts to better apply their ideas to policy.

The Aspen Climate Cohort is tentatively scheduled to run for 10 weeks, full-time, from June 2 to August 12, 2022. The program will be a mixture of in-person and online learning, pending COVID-19 restrictions. Applicants of all backgrounds with technical expertise in climate change are eligible to apply, and admitted applicants will receive an $18,000 stipend to enable their participation. Program staff will host three informational webinars for prospective applicants on January 27, February 8, and February 22. To register, see here.

Climate change is a complex challenge that requires experts from every field working together. Decarbonizing the global economy and preparing for an already-changing planet will take implementation of innovative policies and creative financial solutions. However, those with practical experience in areas such as environmental science, energy engineering, and green business operations are often not given the opportunity to access the policymaking process. The joint cohort will allow climate experts to better translate their ideas into actionable solutions.
