Releasing New Report on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in Cybersecurity

  • Article Published September 9, 2021

San Francisco, CA – We are pleased to release our new report on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in Cybersecurity, co-authored with our colleagues at Aspen Digital.

This report seeks to fill the gaps in the many “lack of diversity in cybersecurity” conversations that have come before. These conversation have often included participants from similar backgrounds; have not included measurable deliverables or executive leadership buy-in; and have lacked the specificity and funding needed to make progress.

Our new report provides myriad recommendations for actions that the cybersecurity field can take now with existing resources, and priorities for future investment that would make a significant difference. The report is the culminating product of two roundtables held in October 2020 and February 2021 with 60+ intergenerational, cross-disciplinary cyber experts.

The report was released at our webinar today, which featured keynote remarks from Representative Lauren Underwood and guest experts Lodrina Cherne, Ron Ford, Karyn McMullen Harker, and Camille Stewart.

We extend our thanks to the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation for its support of this initiative. This report is dedicated to Savilla Pitt, who we know would very much hope that this work will grow to have great impact.
