Aspen Policy Academy

Partnership is a core part of the Academy model. We actively seek out partners interested in offering our courses to their membership, or in working together to deliver trainings. Please see our brochure for an updated list of current course offerings.

Are you a nonprofit looking to expand the reach of your work? A funder with grantees seeking more policy impact? A fellowship with new students to train on better communication? A policy expert ready to share your knowledge and experience? We can help!

The Academy helps funders and nonprofits expand their potential for impact by training them on how to engage with policy. Through policy training bootcamps for nonprofit professionals, webinars, and other trainings, the Academy helps organizations navigate policy in a new landscape, understanding when policy is a useful lever of change – and how to deploy it. For instance, we have:

  • Worked with a fellowship program to design a customized policy writing course;
  • Partnered with a nonprofit to provide training to private sector executives interested in going into government;
  • Trained faculty members from universities on building a Public Interest Technology policy agenda;
  • Taught wildfire prevention experts how to use policy as a lever for change; and
  • Partnered with funders to support policy training for their cybersecurity grantees.

We offer three customizable courses:

Policy
Impact

Students learn how to develop an effective policy idea and how to successfully advocate for its adoption.

Communicating for Policy

Students learn how to effectively communicate their policy ideas. The course provides practical training on policy speaking and writing.

Policy Stakeholders

Students learn the basics of policy structures, both inside and outside of government.

We also offer a range of miscellaneous courses on topics such as budgeting, procurement, and ethics, or on specific subjects such as tech policy and climate policy.

We can design customized programs to meet your needs, whether it’s a full-scale training program or a short workshop. Please contact us if you’d like to discuss a partnership.

Individual Partnerships

We also regularly engage policy experts, whether as an instructor in our programs, a collaborator on a report, or as a member of our team. If you’re a policy expert looking to get more involved, please check out our:

Policy is a team sport; you need to assemble partners to make a difference. The Aspen Policy Academy knows how to build that team.
